Despite this being a new world for our important event, I will still be spending my Saturday, October 24th participating in the 34th annual Walk & 5K to End HIV benefiting the HIV programs and services of Whitman-Walker Health.
These are truly unprecedented times and the need to come together towards positive change is so important. The work that the team does at Whitman-Walker each and everyday, is that kind of positive change. Among the 20,000 unique individuals we serve each year are 3,500 people living with HIV. During the COVID-19 crisis, we have continued to provide this care, via telehealth and in person visits. We have expanded our social media outreach to ensure that we are reaching more people with messages of prevention, including the importance of PrEP as an HIV prevention tool.
The Walk & 5K to End HIV is a vital part of ensuring we have the resources to continue our support of at-risk and HIV-positive populations. Your support helps us fill in the gaps in to reach more people. Your support helps us address disparities in health care. Your support helps us our team flex to reach our patients more.
Your support is a positive light - and we appreciate it.
