Hello!!! It's nice to 'see' you!
The Walk to End HIV is a fall tradition here in Washington, D.C. and has been for 35 years!
Whitman-Walker Health, and health centers like us across the nation, began these walks to raise critically needed funds when our government partners were not supporting us, and when our paths to support people living with HIV were few. We marked the 40th anniversary of the official publication of data that led to naming HIV this past year during another global pandemic.
Despite major achievements in HIV care and prevention, we have incredible disparities in who has access to care, and who remains "undetectable". The work to reach more people - the hard work - requires more funds from the community.
And we have major goals ahead with the opening of a brand new health care facility in Congress Heights, DC in 2023!
Please help us reach our goals - and help us do more. We need you.
Thanks,
Naseema Shafi (she/her)
CEO, Whitman-Walker Health
