36th annual Walk & 5K to End HIV
On Saturday, October 22, we are participating in the 36th annual Walk & 5K to End HIV benefiting the HIV programs and services of Whitman-Walker Health (WWH). WWH provides comprehensive mental and physical healthcare for thousands in the Washington, DC area living with HIV/AIDS regardless of their ability to pay.
Although there now is more education and HIV-prevention methods in the community, there is still much more work to do on the HIV front – 2% of all adults in DC have HIV, and young people ages 13 to 24 represent 20% of new HIV diagnoses. Aid from this Walk will expand support services, and increase access and create new methods of connecting to the most at-risk populations.
Last year, WWH raised more than $443K from the Walk, and our team contributed $12K to that effort. We realize that there are other obligations and charitable organizations that you support, but hoping you can help do even better this year.
Thank you!
