37th Annual Walk & 5K to End HIV
Hi there. I am getting a way-too-late start on this... But, better late than never to let you know on Saturday, December 2 -- 6 weeks later than the Walk is typically held -- I’m participating in the 37th annual Walk & 5K to End HIV benefiting the HIV programs and services of Whitman-Walker Health, in Washington, DC! I need YOUR help, so I can help Whitman-Walker Health do what they do for those affected by HIV/AIDS and in need of testing, treatment, and support.
The virus that has taken the biggest toll on humans overall is HIV. Over 32 million people have died from the virus worldwide. The prevalence of HIV in Washington, DC sits at 1.8% of the total population, with 11,904 residents currently living with the virus. This 2022 HIV prevalence percentage puts DC on par with countries such as Cote d'Ivoire, Haiti, Gambia, and Ghana in the fight against HIV. People with immuno-compromised health status due to HIV continue to be hard hit and must exercise greater-than-normal caution.
I am asking you, please chip in if you are able. Even a small amount is helping us to make a big contribution: $10, $15, or what your means allow. We need you!
Please support me in my goal of raising much-needed funds for this important cause.
Thank you.
