35th annual Walk & 5K to End HIV
On Saturday, October 22, Ruthie and I are participating in the 36th annual Walk & 5K to End HIV benefiting the HIV programs and services of Whitman-Walker Health. I hope that you will support me in my goal of raising funds for this important cause.
This is an important fund raiser for Whitman-Walker Health. Whitman-Walker is a community health center that has special focus on LGBTQ people and people living with HIV. Whitman-Walker is also one of the few primary care providers in Ward 8. I work at Whitman-Walker, and my primary focus there is working with people addressing substance use issues and in working with trans people.
HIV remains an epidemic in D.C. and Whitman-Walker Health focuses on services and education designed to prevent transmission of the virus and provide care to those who are infected. Whitman-Walker Health provides a wide range of care for our clients--primary care, HIV treatment and prevention, insurance navigation, and behavioral health including treatment for substance misuse (as you know, I am part of this last).
The Walk & 5K to End HIV is a vital part of ensuring we have the resources to continue our support of at-risk and HIV-positive populations. That’s why I’m raising funds through this year’s Walk & 5K. Your donation will go toward lifesaving services that Whitman-Walker Health provides for thousands of men and women in our area living with HIV and AIDS—regardless of their ability to pay. And you will help fund critical prevention outreach and treatment programs that can help end HIV in D.C..
Thank you.
