Metro DC DSA
NoVA Medicare for All advocates for the passage of national, improved Medicare For All which guarantees universal, comprehensive health coverage to all -- without copays, deductibles, premiums, or out-of-pocket costs. It would also eliminate the need for employer-sponsored health insurance, for example saving the Arlington county government more than $40 million per year and relieving local businesses of the burden of providing health insurance to employees.
While we fight locally and nationally for Medicare For All, we also recognize the importance of supporting the current needs of our local community - particularly at this time of drastic cuts to Medicaid and Medicare. We see this walk as part of the fight for the needs of our community.
BAWG seeks to advocate for a variety of issues related to bodily autonomy, i.e. reproductive rights, trans and queer rights, and the adequate care for sexual health. In the wake of continued attacks against the healthcare system on a state and federal level, we believe this walk demonstrates solidarity, builds community, and advocates for the most vulnerable among us. Join us on Saturday, September 20, We are participating in the 39th annual Walk to End HIV benefiting the HIV programs and services of Whitman-Walker Health. We hope that you will support our team goal of raising funds for this important cause. HIV remains an epidemic in D.C. and Whitman-Walker Health focuses on services and education designed to prevent transmission of the virus and provide care to those who are infected.
The Walk to End HIV is a vital part of ensuring we have the resources to continue our support of at-risk and HIV-positive populations. That's why our team is raising funds through this year’s Walk. Your donation will go toward lifesaving services that Whitman-Walker Health provides for thousands of people in our area living with HIV regardless of their ability to pay. And you will help fund critical prevention outreach and treatment programs that can help end HIV in D.C.
